You will be assessed by:o
assignments that are given out during the year (including a
laboratory assignment for Science students) - this is the Internal
Assessment component o
an examination at the end of the first semester and a final
examination o
there are 20 to 27 hours of formal classes per week o
you are expected to study for at least 20 hours per week in
your own time o
it is assumed that students choosing Sciences will have
some previous studies in Physics and Chemistry, as well as Mathematics
and English You will be able to see how you are performing by being
awarded a letter grade with an associated grade point. Your overall
performance is expressed as a Grade Point Average (GPA). The grade point
average is determined by averaging the grade point times the unit weight
for each subject. You will get three reports from the Foundation Year. One
report is sent in the middle of the first semester, the second report
has a Mid Year GPA, and the final report is sent in the middle of the
second semester. You will receive a Certificate of Completion at the
conclusion of the course and then an official transcript of your GPA
results from the University of New South Wales. Grade Point Average Table
